Colony Quest
Colony Quest is a game simulating the colonial era from
1880-1914. Players take charge of one of the major
powers'
colonial offices and attempt to perform better than their country did
historically in colonial expansion. This era was known as the
"civilized" era and warfare was not considered a proper resolution to
colonial disputes between the major powers. In Colony Quest however, if a
player wants to mix it up with another power well, feel free! This is a
war game after all.
Currently there are several variations of Colony Quest. We are currently testing a modified version for use at major gaming conventions around the country. We plan to use painted colonial miniatures and quick playing modified rules for the the conventions. This version has 6 player positions: Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
The web version of Colony Quest will have 10 player positions and an expanded rule set. All versions are currently in the play test stage.
More detailed information on Colony Quest will be forthcoming as we continue to
develop the website. Most rules and all charts are now posted. Maps
are in PDF format. Players are strongly encouraged to have high-speed
internet access as the map files will range from 3-10MB in size.
Turns will be processed approximately every three days. Due dates will be issued on the turns. Play-testers are expected to be dedicated enough to complete their turns on time and to provide constructive feedback on the development of the game.
